Dining in Dubai
The multinational feel of this city is in keeping with the many restaurants and exciting entertainment venues that can be found here. Each one provides a wide range of choices for any visit to Dubai.
If you are looking for a great selection of places to eat and drink, then hotels are amongst the best choices. This is largely due to the fact that they cater for not only their own guests, but also for the large number of local residents. The hotels provide everything from coffee shops to 5* fine dining. The range of entertainment to be found within the hotels complex is just as varied, with a variety of pubs, bars and nightclubs open until the small hours. One thing that will stand out above everything else when eating in one of Dubai’s many hotels is the service. The service you receive is equal to that you would find in any of the most exclusive luxury hotels around the world.
When looking to dine outside of Dubai’s hotels there are many places to be found in any area of the city from Jumeirah, Satwa, Deira and Dubai. The one thing to remember if you plan to dine outside of the hotels is that they are not permitted to serve alcohol, however, these restaurants are still worth a visit and are all air-conditioned, clean and well worth a visit.
Dubai Cuisine
Dubai is a fantastic place to try an array of cuisine from the Gulf and Middle East, including Moroccan, Lebanese and Iranian. Some of the speciality Arabian dishes, which make up an important part of any local buffet, are: Hoummus, (a form of pate made from chickpeas and sesame seeds), Tabbouleh, (chopped parsley, mint and crushed wheat), Ghuzi, (a whole roast lamb on a bed of rice mixed with nuts), Wara enab, (vine leaves stuffed with rice), Koussa mahshi, (stuffed courgettes).
You can expect to find plenty of fresh Arabian Gulf and Indian Ocean fish on the menus, such as Lobster, Crab, Hamour, Shrimp, Tuna, King Fish, Pomfret and Red Snapper.
Although local dishes and fresh fish make up a large percentage of dining options any visitor to Dubai will not be found wanting for an International selection. You will be able to find French, Italian, Spanish and Greek restaurants if the European flavour is your preferred taste or if you like a taste of the Orient then Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Filipino and Korean restaurants are also easy to find.
Dubai being such an international and diverse city means that you will not be going hungry, whatever your tastes! Here are some of our favourite places to eat when visiting Dubai:-
24/7 – This is a casual all day dining restaurant that offers international cuisine with a hint of the Mediterranean. 24/7 is located on the 3rd floor of the Kempinksi Hotel Mall of the Emirates and has French windows that open up on to the pool deck. This restaurant offers a choice of buffet or a la carte for Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Butterfly Restaurant & Night Club – A taste of Lebanese food with that all important personal service. Whilst enjoying the views over the Creek and listening to the soft tones of the music you will enjoy a dinner or traditional Lebanese Mezzah and Mixed Grill. Then after your meal sit back and relax watching the in-house belly dancer, or even join in if the mood takes you.
The Agency – Spanish Tapas at it’s best! Set at treetop level with the surrounding palm trees and enjoying excellent views of the Burj Al Arab, this is one of the city’s most perfect and secluded spots. Feast your eyes on a wonderful wine selection and a newly revamped menu that includes raw tuna with a soy glaze, Greek salad, spicy beef sausage and chicken skewers and so much more. This is still a bit of a well kept secret so don’t tell everyone!
