Ski Dubai
With temperatures often in excess of 40ºC, where else in the world would an indoor ski slope be more fitting and provide you with the perfect place to keep cool.
Kept at a constant temperature of minus 2 degrees, this 25-storey, state of the art mountain themed entertainment centre has everything the extreme sports enthusiast could wish for. Ski Dubai has the worlds longest real snow indoor ski slope at 400M, and has the world’s first indoor black run with a fall of 60M. With 5 graded runs there are slopes to challenge all ages and levels.
If you fancy snowboarding the use the 90M permanent half pipe to catch some serious air or take a more sedate slide down the slopes, and join the quad chairlift and tow lifts to take you effortlessly back to the top for another run.
If fancy building a snowman or having a mid summer snowball fight, then the largest snow park in the world is just for you. The 3000 Sq Metre Snow Park offers slopes for toboggans, a twin bobsled run and a snow cavern for the children with interactive activities and snow falls to add to the magical experience. Alternatively sit in the cafes and restaurants and watch the action take place, or leave the children for a lesson and wander through the shopping heaven that is The Mall of the Emirates. No need to worry about taking all of your ski equipment with you, as you will be fully equipped with skis, snowboard, boots and clothing when you enter. However gloves are not for hire so you need to bring these with you or purchase a pair at the well-stocked ski shop.
Strict rules apply to keep the slopes safe and ensure that skiers are kept on slopes suitable to their level of skill, however if you fancy improving your skills or learning how to snowboard then there is a dedicated team of ski instructors available to provide lessons.
If even the thought of minus 2 degrees is makes you feel cold, then why not try Sand-boarding. Just head out into the dunes in your 4x4 and tackle the dunes. Whilst not as smooth a decent as on snow, sand-boarding and sledging can be tremendous fun and a much warmer alternative.
Sand-boarding trips into the desert can be arranged or alternatively can be included in a desert safari, which are arranged by most tour operators. However, make sure the 4WD taxi is available to take you to the top of the dune after your decent!
